Angkor Wat, Cambodia

Cambodia was amazing. I really liked the people and their good nature. Instead of goodbye, they would say "good luck" which was always nice to hear. They seemed like honest and earnest people.

In Siem Reap (previously known as Angkor), there are a series of old Hindu Temples built between the 9th and 15th Centuries. The civilization survived because extensive waterways they built (I read this in National Geographic... apparently, the magazine is more than just pictures. Who knew?). When Buddhism swept through Cambodia in the 1500's and onward, Angkor's Hindu Temples were converted to Buddhist temples aka Wats. Hence the name, Angkor Wat.

We had a great Tuk Tuk driver over the four days. He took us everywhere and was able to honestly tell us that some of the Wats were better than other Wats - much appreciated. Therefore, we visited about four altogether - Angkor Wat, The Faces Wat (Bayon), The Old Wat (Banteay Srei), and The Tree Wat (Ta Prohm).

These pictures are all from Angkor Wat. It was REALLY hot.
