The Tree Wat: Ta Prohm

Gorgeous. This Wat was beautiful. Apparently, the trees are called strangler figs. No kidding.

This Wat was basically left in the original abandoned state. I guess this is what Wats look like when the jungle comes calling.

The German gov't is putting in lots of money to help restore it. In a couple of the pictures, you will see HUGE piles of rubble in the middle of walkways and courtyards. Most piles are taller than me and about five feet wide. Many of the arches had support beams built. The Swiss government is trying to help preserve the trees. They are carefully grooming and pruning the trees to ensure there isn't any damage if a branch falls or the tree comes down.
